Conflict check
A conflict check is the search a firm runs before taking a matter to confirm it has no existing relationship with an adverse party that would make representation improper.
Every firm runs them. The problem is usually when.
Run at the moment of first contact, a conflict costs nothing — the inquiry is declined and referred out. Run three days later, after an intake call and a records request, the firm has spent time on a matter it cannot take and has heard information it should not have.
Why it is often late
Because it depends on a name-matching search against a system somebody has to open, and at nine at night nobody does. The check itself is fast; the queueing is what makes it slow.
Not ready to book a call
Send us five pages of a record set. We will send back what we found in it.
Five pages is enough, redacted however you like. You get a short video back within two business days showing what a chronology would surface from it: the dates, the gaps, the things worth knowing before the other side finds them.
