Plaintiff fact sheet
A plaintiff fact sheet is a standardized questionnaire every claimant in a mass tort or MDL must complete, covering their medical history, product use and injuries, usually under a court-ordered deadline.
In an MDL with thousands of claimants, the fact sheet is how the court and the defense get a comparable picture of each case.
Why they are a bottleneck
They are long, they are due on a schedule, and they must be supported by records the firm has to obtain first. A firm with two thousand claimants is not writing two thousand documents; it is running two thousand parallel records collections against a deadline that does not move.
Incomplete sheets get deficiency notices. Enough deficiencies and a case can be dismissed, which is a case lost on paperwork rather than on merit.
What is automatable
Most of it. The fields are standardized, the answers come from records the firm already has, and the deficiencies are predictable. The judgment is in what to do about a claimant who cannot remember dates, and that part stays with a person.
